What’s in front of you that you aren’t seeing?
“The hardest thing to see is what is in front of your eyes.” ~Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
Anyone who has read my blog for any length of time will know that I am always on the lookout for Praying Mantis pods. I usually find a few in the fields and forests in the winter months.
Imagine my surprise when I planted my tomatoes and found a surprise on one of the cages. Right in my back yard, in plain sight, was a perfect Praying Mantis pod. How did I not see it?
Oh wow! It’s like it was waiting for you!

Now that’s an even stranger place to make a nest than a tomato cage. I would have loved to see it.

Oh fun….but I think I have read they can kill humming birds. That is not good.

I have heard that too. I won’t be bringing pods I find into the yard in the future. Any I think are too large might a quick walk with me into the woods. Mantis are odd insects. They will let you carry around and don’t really seem inclined to try and escape.
