We’ve had a hard frost and there’s not much left alive in the garden. Happily for me, there are still several roses blooming. They are rewarding me now after a summer slump. It’s easy to decide on what to use when your choices are limited.

Roses are some of the first bright blooms of spring after the pansies, daffodils and tulips. One of my best varieties is a brilliant pink miniature rose called Fairy. In the beginning days of November, it is loaded with pink blossoms. I almost hate to cut them, but since I don’t go out as frequently now that the weather has turned chilly, bringing flowers in will give me more time to enjoy them.
They are my IAVOM selection, and also a part of Cee’s FOTD. Included in the vase, a bottle I use for rooting cuttings, are pieces of foliage that are still surviving: Helichrysum Icicles and scented geranium sprigs. The vase itself looked a little plain so I dressed it up a bit with one of my necklaces.

Beautiful

We both are admiring the same rose in our garden and vase. I hope mine will survive and be blooming as profusely as yours this time next year.

Yes, they are wonderful blossoms aren’t they. I like to press them too…they are a little thick, but they do turn out.

Oh how effective is this?!! Your little clutch of Fairies, decked out with a little foliage and your necklace for effect – so pretty!

Thanks so much, I love that wording, a little clutch of fairies…sounds like it should be in a book or poem.

Ah, the second mention this week of the fairy rose! That was the only rose that I reliably got to bloom in my former garden. Roses are just as difficult in my current garden but I should hunt down that rose to see if it could tolerate conditions here.

I’m so glad I have it. I’m going to keep my eyes open for others since I usually need to replace a few tea roses every year. This amazing rose might be a better choice.

It must be that rose is a sure winner this time of the year, as Anna too has used it this week. I like that you have dressed up your vase with a bit of bling.

Thanks, it looked a little drab otherwise.

This rose is a real winner! I had it in my old garden and even had a few flowers at Christmas some years! Looks lovely in your decorated bottle. 😃

Happily, taking a look at the backyard, I see several of the roses are following the example of fairy. I think I will have more roses for Monday’s bouquet. Oh the joy!
