Pleasures – Sunrise on Elk Neck River, Maryland
Today I’m experiencing again, through photographs and a Youtube video, one of the best sunrises I ever gazed upon along the Elk Neck River, Maryland, in 2007. Why revisit the past? Because it reminds me of what to look for in my future. On the flip side, spending time reliving experiences that are negative will capture and bind me in a defeated, discouraged mindset. Live in the present, remember the moments filled with love, true joy and sweet contentment…banish the negative past from your thoughts.

Perspective – The Bucket List & Fearing Not
What does a “bucket list” mean? According to WikiAnswers: “A bucket list is a list of things such as activites that you are going to do before you die.”
I don’t have a bucket list, but if I did, going to an Easter Sunrise Service at Hart’s Methodist outdoor amphitheater would be on it. Happily, I have already fulfilled this wish, and not only fulfilled it once, I’ve been to Hart’s twice for their Easter Sunrise service.
Last week I felt the presence of the Lord as the sun lit the sky and peeped over the horizon and the Elk Neck River. It is a great way to worship and rejoice that JESUS CHRIST is our risen LORD and SAVIOR. I know this for certain! HALLELUJAH!
There is much in life that is not certain. Frightening situations and the unknown confront us all, but I have this blessed assurance to hold onto, and friend, so do you:
“Fear not, for I am with you,
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.”Isaiah 41:10

Preparedness and Peace – Psalm 46
The earth is in upheaval: strange weather, earthquakes of large magnitude, tornadoes, hurricanes, massive hail storms, volcanic eruptions, flooding, drought. All these things have been experienced throughout history, yet it seems the frequency and the damaging effects of natural disasters is escalating. It’s easy to feel like this tree that grows alongside the Elk Neck River in Maryland’s Elk Neck State Forest.
When I go through the storms of life. I want to be like this tree and hold fast to the rock of my foundation, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Psalm 46 sums up so perfectly how I feel.
Psalm 46
For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. According to alamoth.
A song.
1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. 5 God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. 6Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
7The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
8 Come and see what the LORD has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth. 9 He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields[d] with fire. 10He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress
