Photograph – Blurred Times/Sunrise, Montego Bay, Jamaica

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Blur.”

Fishing Boat, Montego Bay, Jamaica

I am returned home after ten days spent in one of my favorite vacation destinations: Jamaica. I’ll be blogging more about my stay and some of the unique sights, sounds and activities I took part in, but for today I’m using one of the photographs I captured as an entry in the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge. This week the challenge title is “Blur.”

“A throwaway shot, or purposefully unfocused? This week, find beauty in a blur.”

Sunrise in Montego Bay, Jamaica. A fisherman soundlessly glides past the sleeping Royal Decameron Resort.

This photograph was taken in the ‘blurred time’ between the dark and the dawn. As the fisherman rowed past me, I captured the photograph never realizing until just a few moments ago, that his boat was named, “God Bless.” A good reminder to me that so often in the busyness of the day, GOD BLESSES ME, and I am sometimes unaware of his hand of blessing upon my life. Thank you Lord for all your many blessings. GOD BLESS you all on this Easter Monday.

God Bless

Pleasures – Sunrise on Elk Neck River, Maryland

Today I’m experiencing again, through photographs and a Youtube video, one of the best sunrises I ever gazed upon along the Elk Neck River, Maryland, in 2007. Why revisit the past? Because it reminds me of what to look for in my future. On the flip side, spending time reliving experiences that are negative will capture and bind me in a defeated, discouraged mindset. Live in the present, remember the moments filled with love, true joy and sweet contentment…banish the negative past from your thoughts.

Pleasures, Peculiarities and Perspective – Aurora Borealis

“And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. God saw that the light was good.” Genesis 1:3-4 (NIV)

I enjoy placing glass near windows. The beautiful swathe of color above was created quite by chance, the result of God’s sun shining through a glass shelf and reflecting up onto the expanse of my ceiling. I always feel a bit blessed to sit beneath a shimmer of sun-painted colors. When I see a sunset, sunrise, rainbow or even a momentary blaze of color through common glass, I am reminded of one of the wonders of the world, the Aurora Borealis. Below I have embedded a gorgeous two minute video of the Aurora Borealis, beautifully highlighted with the Soundtrack of one of my favorite movies, “Gladiator.” Enjoy!

Somehow all anxiety slips away when you dwell for a moment on who holds the future in his hand.

” ‘I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.’ ”  Revelation 21:6-7 (NIV)
