Perspective – Detours

On May 3, 2020 By TimelessladyIn Perspective4 Comments

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

It didn’t seem like everything was working for good yesterday when the path I walk in the woods was unexpectedly inaccessible. The high winds of April brought down a towering oak tree; my woodland trail is blocked. It seemed one more negative situation in an upsetting, constantly changing time. The pandemic, the bad weather, the restrictions now in place are making me cling even more to the promise quoted here from God’s Holy Word.

I backtracked, took the way of concrete sidewalks rather than the soft woodland path, and arrived at the open fields near my home. I spied a patch of buttercups glowing in the sunlight, and being who I am, thought I might pick a few to press. As I neared them I saw movement. Oh my…what a beautiful butterfly…only the size of a dime, and covered in glorious markings painted on its wings by the Creator of Heaven and Earth.

The discovery of the butterfly was an uplift. Although my outdoor time began in disappointment, God gave me wonderful moments while I observed the masterpiece of his creation. I need to persevere with this attitude of looking for daily blessings amid this time of personal detours, for after all, I truly believe what I so often say aloud and sing about, “God is so GOOD!”

I’m going to keep traveling on and follow him.

I Feel Like Traveling On

My heav’nly home is bright and fair,
I feel like traveling on;
Nor pain nor death can enter there,
I feel like traveling on.

Refrain:
Yes, I feel like traveling on,
I feel like traveling on;
My heav’nly home is bright and fair,
I feel like traveling on.

Its glitt’ring tow’rs the sun outshine,
I feel like traveling on;
That heav’nly mansion shall be mine,
I feel like traveling on.

Let others seek a home below,
I feel like traveling on;
Which flames devour, or waves o’erflow,
I feel like traveling on.

The Lord has been so good to me,
I feel like traveling on;
Until that blessed home I see,
I feel like traveling on.

An Invitation

Whosoever Will…

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”                    ~ John 3:16

“The Lord is good and glad to teach the proper path to all who go astray; he will teach the ways that are right and best to those who humbly turn to him. And when we obey him, every path he guides us on is fragrant with his loving-kindness and his truth.

~ Psalm 25:8-10
