Apples are plentiful at this time. I thought I would try to create a bit of applesauce with a few that were becoming a bit mealy. I peeled and sliced the apples. Instead of sugar, I added about five strawberries I had on hand for flavor and sweetness. I added a bit of water, about a 1/4 cup, and a squeeze of some type of citrus. I brought this to a boil and simmered lightly until the fruits were soft and on the verge of falling apart. A hard stir, and just like that I had my applesauce. It is absolutely delicious. The applesauce will keep for about three days in the fridge. A sprinkle of cinnamon is also nice.

Pleasure – Apples
September is here…school begins…the bliss of summer ends. Happily, Autumn has its own joys…and apples are tops on my list of seasonal favorites.
I bought a small basket of Gala apples at the local farm market. Galas are one of my favorite apple varieties. I enjoy using them to make a delicious side dish of baked apples. (With whipped cream on top, baked apples can also be a delicious dessert.)
Core and slice the apples thin. No special measurements, slice up as many as you think you will eat in one sitting, or cut a few extra for leftovers.
I like to cook baked apples in glass bakeware. Place apples in baking dish, dot freely with butter, sprinkle top with brown sugar, and add a sprinkling of cinnamon. I sometimes also add a pinch of salt. Bake at 350, covered with foil or a lid for about forty-five minutes. Enjoy!
Pots and Pans – Caramel Apples the Easy Way

I love caramel apples, but they can be time-consuming to make. I also find them difficult to eat. They are hard to bite into without smearing the caramel all over my face. I was glad to find this easy way to make and eat them.
I peeled my apples and cut them into slices. (Peeling is optional; you can just as easily leave the peel on.) Since I was eating them right away, I didn’t bother sprinkling them with lemon juice. They disappeared quicker than the flesh could discolor.
Unwrap three caramels. Place in a microwave-safe bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of dark corn syrup and 1 teaspoon of water. Microwave for twenty seconds. Stir with a fork. Microwave for twenty seconds more. Stir until all the ingredients are combined and form a syrup. Pour over the apple slices and enjoy. Ahhhhhh….Scrumptious! And so very EASY.
