Photograph – Last Photo on SD Card

I took this photograph as we drove out of Fortescue on Saturday. I don’t know when I last posted twice in a day but Bushboy’s Challenge of Last Photo on SD Card intrigued me, so here I am again.

I thought at first glance the photo would be a great lead-in for one of my favorite songs, Bob Marley’s ‘Three Little Birds,‘ but on closer inspection saw that one of the pilings in the salt marsh held two ospreys. The osprey population in the bay town of Fortescue seems to be thriving. Anyway, although the birds are four, there’s always time to post and listen to this sweet song…one of Bob Marley’s best.

I’ve always thought the song a good lead in for these words of Jesus…

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” ~Matthew 6:25-27

Perspective & Phavorites – Don’t Worry

“Don’t worry about a thing
‘Cause every little thing gonna be alright
Singing’ don’t worry about a thing
‘Cause every little thing gonna be alright.”~ Bob Marley

As young as they are, my grandchildren already talk about memories they have of ‘Nanny’s house.’ My middle grandchild said to me recently, “When I was a baby, I came here, and I would sing.” It turns out this singing was Bob Marley’s song, ‘Three Little Birds.’ When my grandson was a toddler, I watched him several days throughout the week, we’d play Reggae and when our favorite, ‘Three Little Birds,’ filled the living room with its lilting notes, I’d pick him up and we’d dance together. He remembers these moments.

I came to love Reggae music later in life. I’d definitely say ‘Three Little Birds’ is one of my favorite songs. I’ve said before in these posts, the wisdom in the song, echoes Jesus’ words in the Bible.

Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

Today I read an article with a little more proof that Reggae music will make you smile. Dogs prefer Reggae.

Another Reggae group that fills me with joy is Christafari Band.

The dreariness of winter can put a blight on your happiness…take a few moments to listen to some upbeat music and smile.

Prompt – The Daily Prompt at WordPress/Opening Lines

I’ve decided it might be fun to take part in the WordPress.com Daily Prompts from time to time. The editors provide one line or word and invite WordPress bloggers to take part in the challenge. Today I accepted and below is my response to the invitation.

Today’s Daily Prompt – Opening Lines is this:

“Opening Lines – What’s the first line of the last song you listened to (on the radio, on your music player, or anywhere else)? Use it as the first sentence of your post.”

“Ole Pirates they did rob I…”

This is the opening line of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song.” Redemption Song is one of Bob’s last songs, and is quite a departure from the normal reggae melodies that created his most known works of music.

Redemption Song has become one of my favorites. Perhaps it is the purity of Bob’s voice along with the acoustic guitar accompaniment. Most likely it is the timeless character of the words, many of them still so applicable to this day and time with all its horror and strife around the world.

I think my favorite line, and the favorite of so many is this one:

“Emancipate yourself from mental slavery none but ourselves can free our MINDS…”

Here is a version of the song from a concert in Dortmund Germany. There are a few instruments added in, but they don’t take away from the song.

Paths – Who We Really Are

What might surprise many of you about me is that in my mid-fifties I grew to love many of the late Bob Marley’s songs. My husband would affirm the fact that I have said to him many times, “I think Bob Marley’s song “Three Little Birds,” is almost Biblical. This is my favorite of all his songs. When I am stressed, I sing the song to myself, usually out loud. I don’t care who hears me. When I play the CD both of my grandchildren, who are babies still, raise their arms to have Nanny lift them up and sway with them to and fro while the sweet music plays.

Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Matthew 6:25-27

You might also laugh a bit if you knew that at times I compose a self-portrait of myself in my mind…a pre-painting daydream, and I am in Jamaica, sitting in front of a little blue cottage with a lavender door, snapping a bowl of green beans. I’m wearing a long colorful skirt and bright top. My feet are bare and my hair is white and waving in crazy bends and dips all around my head. (If I don’t dry my hair it does exactly this…it is not white yet, but it is changing over in a hurry) There are goats nearby keeping the grass down. Chickens are running all over the yard, and of course there are lazy cats on the windowsills and at my feet. There might even be a little donkey in the picture. There is an amazing garden, full of flowers and vegetables, and most important, three little birds upon my doorstep. If you listen closely, beyond the sweet singing of the birds you can hear the soft waves of the ocean. Someday, even if I never live out the vision in actuality, I am hoping to paint my daydream, a little slice of who I would like to be.

So, a bit of a surprise perhaps about who the writer of this blog is in her heart. Here’s a little known fact about Bob Marley’s life:Bob Marley Converted to Christianity
