On Saturday, my husband and I took a stroll through the antiquing town of Mullica Hill, New Jersey. I enjoyed coming upon this display of candles in the front of one home/business. What a great idea and a good way to shine out light upon the world. The inner recesses of the baskets are also the perfect choice for today’s Color Your World – 120 Days of Crayola Challenge – Brown

Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.       2. And blessings on your day too- and I meant to say I “love that verse” not live it – but both could apply – but the “o” and “I” are right next to each other and my thumb constantly hits the I and not the o! So annoying

    Were those candles for sale ? Aren’t you lucky to be living right in the country but with access to towns for all its benefits but also being blessed with the abundance of nature all around you.
    Kathy, I am reading Matthew 11 today and in it there are two verses 16 & 17
    “16 “To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:

    17 “‘We played the pipe for you,
    and you did not dance;
    we sang a dirge,
    and you did not mourn.’”
    What does this mean ? I mean what is the connection between a generation that does not dance or mourn and the current generation ?
    I love to hear what you understood.

I read a little further, and my version is The Living Bible…I think verse 19 sums it up…that people justify their inconsistencies, and that no matter what Jesus said, someone always criticized him. I think this is a good lesson for our lives…that no matter what we say or do, someone is always ready to criticize…not because they really care and want to help us, but because at the root of their criticism is a need to feel superior and better than everyone else. It’s a sad way to live…pitiful really…to always be looking for ways to tear people down. You, are just the opposite Susie, you are always on the lookout for ways to build people up. What a good soul you are!

  3. Although I like the look of the display, I fear that if those candles are lit, the wooden boxes will at best get singed, but they will eventually burn. I have found to my annoyance that even tealights on wooden shelves are not a good idea. My shelves are separated by about 30cm and the bottom of one of them got singed by the tealights on the shelf below!!!

    1. Yes, I have had the same thing happen in my house. It’s amazing the amount of heat a small candle will create. It appears these candles have been lit at some point, but not burnt too low. Hopefully, there is enough room to give the heat a chance to escape without causing a problem.
