Pareidolia – “The word is derived from the Greek words para, meaning something faulty, wrong, instead of, and the noun eidōlon, meaning image, form or shape. Pareidolia is a type of apophenia, which is a more generalized term for seeing patterns in random data.” ~ Live Science – Pareidolia
The Daily Post Photo Challenge for this week is Faces, a perfect match for the driftwood I found lying on the beach of the Delaware River in National Park, NJ this past weekend.
Do you see the faces of two birds? I do. I couldn’t leave these pieces of river-drift just lying on the beach to wash back out with the next tide. I don’t know exactly what I will do with them, but I’ve seen some stunning examples of driftwood painted for display. I am wondering if these birds need a bit of paint, or perhaps some feathers. Hmmm…what do you think? Paint, feathers or left au natural???
I like living with a piece of wood for a bit before deciding whether or not I’m going to embellish it, or leave it au natural. Sometimes a little bit of time gives you the chance to envision different outcomes, and before you know it, you’re headed in one direction or another. Either way, have fun creating with your found treasures. 🙂

Kathy, it is amazing what shapes you can imagine with a piece of wood.
I am not sure where the bird’s heads are.

Hi Susie, I see the birds head in the shape toward the end that looks like a beak, and also the placement of the knothole near one of the ends seems reminiscent of an eye…I see that eye first, and then the whole face comes to life for me. I think I am going to try painting them, and then I will have an update post. I hope all is well with you my friend, a blessed Sunday to you. Kathy

Now that you mention it, I see it but I guess it takes an artist to see things like that. You are very blessed, Kathy.
I have reached a sort of road block with my bible reading and understanding. Please remember me in your prayers. I had a bad time last week- just recovering.
Hope you had a wonderful sunday too !

I will do that Susie, I’m praying right now and often through the day for you. It seems right now that so many of us are in crisis…everyone seems to be beset by problems and trials that seem insurmountable. It is what has slowed down my blogging a bit in the last few months. I will remember you and your family, and I ask that you remember me and mine too.

Thank you Kathy- I will pray for you but it is difficult when I feel God will not hear prayers from such a great sinner.

Susie, we are all sinners…every one, not one is good…only saved by GRACE. That is what is so wonderful about our God…he loves us even in our sin.
