At least 65 years plus in age, my birdbath still holds water for my backyard birds. It mimics the full moon that has been gracing February’s cold night skies. It first belonged to my maternal grandmother. I remember being nose-high to its edge, peering over the rim at the silvery reflections. It resembles a crystal ball. Strange, I am considered a reasonable person, but I have no desire to know the future, near or far. I gaze into it to remember the joys of the past.
Today’s post is part of Lens Artist Photo Challenge #235: Shadows and Reflections in Monochrome. Thank you to both the hosts and the participants in this challenge.
The reflected sky is part of Skywatch Friday. Water, Water, Everywhere can even be found in a backyard birdbath, thanks to Jez for hosting.
Beautiful shot. Thank you for joining in!

Thanks, a double reflecting surface, I’m not sure I can quite make out if it is the bottom, or the water, doing the reflecting.

Not really sure what I’m looking at but it is strange.

I agree. It does look odd. The challenge was to use a photograph, in monochrome, of reflections. These are reflections in a birdbath that is not only reflective through the water, but the silvering on the inner portion of the birdbath. So it’s a reflection in water over the reflecting surface of the birdbath. Oh my! I agree, it does sound, and probably looks confusing. But it worked for the challenge.

It definitely mimics the full moon. Great look at shadows and reflection in monochrome.

Ohh…this reminds me of a reflection in a crystal ball. The shadows on the surface are intriguing and make you take another look and another. I’m glad you joined us!

Thanks so much. I definitely felt a sense of the magical too, when I filtered it into monochrome. Sometimes the simplicity of little color lets you see the magic.
