I looked for a periwinkle a few days ago, and found nothing. I didn’t know it was hiding out within the mass of ivy beneath the pines. I love these small flowers. Now I know for sure Spring is on the way in South Jersey. It’s really cold and windy today, but this tender little blossom gives me hope. My periwinkle is part of Cee’s Flower of the Day.
When I lived in N. Ala,. Our yard was full of it. Such a pretty plant.

I have them mixed in with the ivy. It is survival of the fittest. The ivy is tough, but the periwinkle has lasting persistence too.

It is so long since I have seen a periwinkle – I don’t think they grow here in the subtropics. My boyfriend bought me a skirt that exact color in the 70s. I wish I had kept it…

I love to wear the color too. Have you noticed it is one of the hardest colors to find if you are looking for something to wear in that shade. Near us is a house painted in a beautiful periwinkle…it’s gorgeous.

You are right – it is ages since I saw anything in periwinkle. What a pretty color to paint a house!
