I haven’t taken part in Xingfu Mama’s One-to-Three Photo Processing Challenge for a few months and thought this rather drab background behind my sunflowers might be worth perking up a bit.

I processed the photo three ways with an end vision in mind. I first cropped a bit and then used Ribbet to create a focal color with black and white.

I wondered if the original would look better boosted and posterized in Ribbet, but decided against using the brighter version for the final version. I might use this for another project. I like the chunkiness of the color blocks in the leaves and petals.

I next loaded my tweaked photos into Adobe Express and created a background of blue sky to really make the sunflowers stand out. I downloaded a flipped version of the image and removed the background, adding a second layer of the same sunflowers to the composition. I was happy with the finished product and decided it was perfect to use for a poster for my Signposts blog. Thank you to Xingfu Mama for this fun challenge.

HEAVENLY SUNLIGHT
BY
Henry J. Zelley
Walking in sunlight, all of my journey,
over the mountains, through the deep vale;
Jesus has said, “I’ll never forsake thee,”
promise divine that never can fail.
Refrain:
Heavenly sunlight, heavenly sunlight,
flooding my soul with glory divine:
hallelujah, I am rejoicing,
singing His praises, Jesus is mine.
Shadows around me, shadows above me,
never conceal my Savior and Guide;
He is the light, in Him is no darkness;
ever I’m walking close to His side. [Refrain]
Shadows around me, shadows above me,
Never conceal my Savior and Guide;
He is the Light, in Him is no darkness;
Ever I’m walking close to His side.

How very creative you have been Kathy, and I love your finished version with your header.. And it goes perfectly with Heavenly Sunlight by Henry J. Zelley.
I love Sunflowers, and have a couple growing in my garden…
Have a beautiful week ahead Kathy xx

I am going to plant a packet today that says they will bloom in 60 days. I have the sweetest squirrels and bunnies, but they eat sunflower seed sprouts the minute they appear, that is if the chipmunks haven’t dug the seeds up. 😒 I am hoping to have some late seasons blooms in October and November.

I wish you JOY with your planting Kathy, and I hope the chipmunks leave enough to grow so the squirrels and bunnies get their share 🙂 xx
Sending HUGS xx

Thanks so much. I meant to link up the Signpost mention, but didn’t get around to it until today. There’s a link now inside the body of the post. Thanks for stopping by.

I also forgot to add that the header at the top of my blog features the beautiful Rose of Sharon tree/bush blossoms that I grew from your seed. It was covered for a month or two and is still popping out a bloom or two in August. It is a wonderful reminder of blogging friendships.

well the timing of your comment is awesome. I just walked outside to huge blooms from a hybrid plant that came from my rose of sharons (two) that I brought with me. The pink one is budding but slow to bloom.
Anyhow, I DO think of you at times with our connection to Rose of Sharons and so I smiled to read that!
Also, did you post any photos of the “topiary” you made with yours? I would love to see it.

and I will try to send a photo of the hybrid white blooms.
I still call this plant my “sturdy beauty” – which is like you!
and when we move through these seasons of “trial and sorrow” let’s feed on God’s strength and a verse that was special to me earlier this year (a common one, I know – but recharged me every time I said it on a walk) was Matthew 6:26
“Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
I am going to memorize more from Matthew 6 in some of my upcoming walks.

I love that verse, and our pastor just used it in a sermon Sunday on ‘Bible verses We Should Know’. It is a great verse. Since I’m a ‘birdy’ person it means a lot to me.
