I love receiving palms at the end of the Palm Sunday service. I added mine to my IAVOM (In a Vase on Monday) arrangement. The only other plant material is crabapple buds draped gracefully from slender branches. They are lovely, about to bloom, and seem to have the slightest of sweet scents. A small handmade cross, received at Hart’s Sunrise Easter service in Northeast Maryland two years ago, adds a touch of gratitude for Christ’s sacrifice for us.
The vase is a blown glass pitcher of Jamestown Glass. Thank you to Rambling in the Garden for hosting the weekly challenge, and to the Ragtag Daily Prompt challenge host.
I hope the days leading up to Easter Sunday will be a blessed week for all my blogging friends.

Yes, its so easy to become caught up in the holiday and not pay enough attention to the sacrifice. The Lord is my all in all…that is Good News!

A very pretty vase – you must have a large crabapple tree to be able to cut blossom. Wonderful!

I found this bit of blossoming branch in a nearby field. I think it once was the site of a home, but must have been torn down. There are bits of concrete dumped in the nearby woods. The blooms seemed too pretty not to use, and since less than a mile from my house, it almost seems like my home.

Those buds are such a pretty colour although it looks as if they are opening to white – and such an elegant twig too. In the UK they give out small crosses made from palm leaves on Palm Sunday (dried, and imported of course!)

I know some in our area weave them into crosses, but I don’t know how. I have seen demos, but I forget over the course of the year. These were in a big pliable bunch and they pulled strips off as we left Sunday service. I remember being a child at Sunday School and playing sword fight with them in the churchyard.
