Phloral Arrangement – Monochrome Monday/Golden Iris

Monochrome Monday/Golden Iris

Oh, the joy of Iris flowers. One of my favorite bicycle excursions around town was the year I took my camera and sought out as many photo opportunities as possible of local irises in private gardens.

The beautiful golden petals of the Iris I used in my In A Vase On Monday arrangement is unknown to me. It started as one or two plants, either purchased or given to me. It’s been so long; I truly can’t remember at this point. They have multiplied so well that I have them interspersed throughout many of my gardens.

Alongside the side fence, they are so densely packed that they are a good barrier to keep my neighbor’s grass from growing into my flower bed.

I’ve had the vase so long I don’t remember exactly where it came from, either. So, it is a perfect choice for the Iris of unknown origin.

Thanks to Cathy from Rambling in the Garden for hosting IAVOM.

Photograph – Monochrome Monday – Delaware River Goose

It was a dreary weekend, but we walked along the Delaware River, at National Park, to pass a bit of time outdoors. A goose seemed tired of all the cold and rain too, while his flock swam, he surveyed the water and the people strolling along the shoreline. The sky was such a dismal grey, I didn’t need any filters to remove color, the landscape was monochrome all on its own. Hurry Spring! Welcome March!

Pheathers – Monochrome Monday Mockingbird in Snow

Mockingbirds are a favorite of mine. I captured this beauty outside my window today, perched on a branch of the Bald Cypress tree. The beautiful snow is reason enough to gaze out the window, making eye-contact with a mockingbird is an added bonus. Is it possible to develop friendship with birds, moments of real trust? Possibly this morning was an inroad to even better relationships with the backyard flock. I trudged out in the snow to throw a bit of seed on the ground, and into the feeder hoping to give them a few minutes of nourishment before the snow covered my breakfast offering over again.

This Monochrome Monday post is part of Skywatch.

Pheathers – Monochrome Monday/Quoth the Raven

This raven has a interesting silhouette. I thought his scissored tail was a perfect choice for Cee’s Black and White Challenge/Tongues and Tails.
